Go and Sin No More

Bring your sins and He will bear them away in the wilderness of forgetfulness and you will never see them again.                                                                             Dwight L Moody

In John chapter 8,  the woman who committed adultery stood before Jesus, covered in sin and shame, awaiting her death by the cruel act of stoning. The bible says she was caught in the very act of adultery  and was brought before Jesus. As she stood there, she must have felt intense feelings of fear, shame, and guilt because she saw no way out of this mess.

Yet, even in that messy, seemingly impossible situation, our savior readily offered this woman protection, not condemnation, and supernatural hope. First, He offered her protection from the ones trying to stone her with His wise words and revealed to them in a subtle way that everyone, young and old, needs a savior. Second, He gave his judgment of her, saying that He does not condemn or denounce her. Months later, when Jesus went to the cross and rose again , this woman must have understood why he had uttered those words. He will soon become the ransom for all her sins and our sins, redeeming her and us from the destructive power of sin and satan.  Third, He tells her to go and sin no more. Above all He offers her His unconditional, steady, and comforting love even when she was in her sinful mess.

My friend, living a lifestyle of sin in any area of our lives, can actually make us feel lonely, guilty, powerless, and shameful. But be encouraged, because our savior can deliver us from any mess and give us beauty for our ashes. Friend,  no matter how messy your life is, there is One who can unconditionally love you through your hurts, defend you from the stone throwers and accusers, and redeem you from the power of sin. His name is Jesus. I urge you to simply trust Him and surrender your life to Him. Trust in His intense and infinite love for you and His redemptive power to bring you out of any mess and give you a life of victory.

Let us pray,

Dear Abba,

Thank you for sending your Son to die for me. Abba, your love through your Son Jesus simply overwhelms me. This love is constant through my hurts and pain, my imperfections and my sins. Let the steadfast love of my Lord permeate every area of my life and bring redemption, healing, restoration, and beauty.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
